Shiva Sankalpa Sukta (शिव सङ्कल्प सूक्त)
Lo Shiva Sankalpa Sukta forma i primi 6 mantra dei 34 capitoli della Vajasaneyi Samhita dello Shukla Yajur Veda. Si trova anche nel Rudrashtadhyayi del Rig Veda. Sankalpa significa volontà, giusta intenzione, o buon auspicio. Recitare i sei mantra dello Shiva Sankalpa per qualche tempo ogni giorno, è considerato un buon metodo per stabilizzare e controllare la mente.
यज्जाग्रतो दूरमुदैति दैवं तदु सुप्तस्य तथैवैति। दूरङ्गमं ज्योतिषां ज्योतिरेकं तन्मे मनः शिवसङ्कल्पमस्तु ॥1॥
yajjāgrato dūramudaiti daivaṃ tadu suptasya tathaivaiti| dūraṅgamaṃ jyotiṣāṃ jyotirekaṃ tanme manaḥ śivasaṅkalpamastu ||1||
1. That mind which wanders in the waking state as well as in sleep, the far-wanderer, that which is the one and only illuminator of knowledge, may that mind of mine have auspicious thoughts.
1. Quella mente che vaga nello stato di veglia così come nel sonno, quella vagabonda che va lontano, ciò che è l'unica e sola illuminatrice della conoscenza, possa quella mia mente avere pensieri di buon auspicio.
येन कर्माण्यपसो मनीषिणो यज्ञे कृण्वन्ति विदथेषु धीराः। यदपूर्वं यक्षमन्तः प्रजानां तन्मे मनः शिवसङ्कल्पमस्तु ॥2॥
yena karmāṇyapaso manīṣiṇo yajñe kṛṇvanti vidatheṣu dhīrāḥ| yadapūrvaṃ yakṣamantaḥ prajānāṃ tanme manaḥ śivasaṅkalpamastu ||2||
2. That mind, by the help of which men who are experts in a variety of knowledge perform sacred sacrificial fire ceremonies (Yajña), which is unique and is the inner power of all people, may that mind of mine have auspicious thoughts.
2. Quella mente, con l'aiuto della quale uomini esperti in una varietà di conoscenze svolgono sacre cerimonie sacrificali del fuoco (Yajña), che è unica ed è il potere interiore di tutte le persone, possa quella mia mente avere pensieri di buon auspicio.
यत्प्रज्ञानमुत चेतो धृतिश्च यज्जोतिरन्तरमृतं प्रजासु। यस्मान्न ऋते किञ्चन कर्म क्रियते तन्मे मनः शिवसङ्कल्पमस्तु ॥3॥
yatprajñānamuta ceto dhṛtiśca yajjotirantaramṛtaṃ prajāsu| yasmānna ṛte kiñcana karma kriyate tanme manaḥ śivasaṅkalpamastu ||3||
3. That mind which is embodied with knowledge, consciousness, and steadfastness, that which is the inner light and ambrosia (Amṛta) of the people, that without which no action can be performed, may that mind of mine have auspicious thoughts.
3. Quella mente che è incarnata con conoscenza, coscienza e fermezza, quella che è la luce interiore e l'ambrosia (Amṛta) delle persone, quella senza la quale nessuna azione può essere eseguita, possa quella mia mente avere pensieri di buon auspicio.
येनेदं भूतं भुवनं भविष्यत्परिगृहीतममृतेन सर्वम्। येन यज्ञस्तायते सप्तहोता तन्मे मनः शिवसङ्कल्पमस्तु ॥4॥
yenedaṃ bhūtaṃ bhuvanaṃ bhaviṣyatparigṛhītamamṛtena sarvam| yena yajñastāyate saptahotā tanme manaḥ śivasaṅkalpamastu ||4||
4. That immortal one with which the past, present, and future are grasped, that by which the sacred fire ritual is performed by the seven priests, may that mind of mine have auspicious thoughts.
4. Quell'immortale con cui vengono colti il passato, il presente e il futuro, quella mediante il quale il rituale del fuoco sacro viene eseguito dai sette sacerdoti, possa quella mia mente avere pensieri di buon auspicio.
यस्मिन्नृचः साम यजूंषि यस्मिन् प्रतिष्ठिता रथनाभाविवाराः। यस्मिश्चित्तं सर्वमोतं प्रजानां तन्मे मनः शिवसङ्कल्पमस्तु ॥5॥
yasminnṛcaḥ sāma yajūṃṣi yasmin pratiṣṭhitā rathanābhāvivārāḥ| yasmiścittaṃ sarvamotaṃ prajānāṃ tanme manaḥ śivasaṅkalpamastu ||5||
5. That mind in which the knowledge of Ṛg, Sāma, and Yajur Vedas is placed like the spokes in a chariot wheel, which is intertwined with the minds of all people, may that mind of mine have auspicious thoughts.
5. Quella mente in cui la conoscenza di Ṛg, Sama e Yajur Veda è posta come i raggi in una ruota di un carro, che è intrecciata con le menti di tutte le persone, possa quella mia mente avere pensieri di buon auspicio.
सुषारथिरश्वानिव यन्मनुष्यान्नेनीयतेऽभीशुभिर्वाजिन इव। हृत्प्रतिष्ठं यदजिरं जविष्ठं तन्मे मनः शिवसङ्कल्पमस्तु ॥6॥
suṣārathiraśvāniva yanmanuṣyānnenīyate'bhīśubhirvājina iva| hṛtpratiṣṭhaṃ yadajiraṃ javiṣṭhaṃ tanme manaḥ śivasaṅkalpamastu ||6||
6. That mind which leads men to discover their inner immortal self in the heart as well as a good charioteer guides the horses of the chariot, which is very fast, may that mind of mine have auspicious thoughts.
6. Quella mente che porta gli uomini a scoprire il loro sé interiore immortale nel cuore così come un buon auriga guida i cavalli del carro, che è molto veloce, possa quella mia mente avere pensieri di buon auspicio.
