Navagraha Stotram

 

 

नमः सूर्यय चन्द्रय मन्गलय बुधयच |

गुरु शुक्र शनि ब्रुहस् राहवे केतवे नमः ||

 

जपाकुसुमसंकाशं काश्यपेयं महद्युतिम् |

तमोऽरिं सर्वपापघ्नं प्रणतोऽस्मि दिवाकरम् || ||

 

दधिशङ्खतुषाराभं क्षीरोदार्णवसंभवम् |

नमामि शशिनं सोमं शम्भोर्मुकुटभूषणम् || ||

 

धरणीगर्भसंभूतं विद्युत्कान्तिसमप्रभम् |

कुमारं शक्तिहस्तं मङ्गलं प्रणमाम्यहम् || ||

 

प्रियङ्गुकलिकाश्यामं रूपेणाप्रतिमं बुधम् |

सौम्यं सौम्यगुणोपेतं तं बुधं प्रणमाम्यहम् || ||

 

देवानां ऋषीणां गुरुं काञ्चनसंनिभम् |

बुद्धिभूतं त्रिलोकेशं तं नमामि बृहस्पतिम् || ||

 

हिमकुन्दमृणालाभं दैत्यानां परमं गुरुम् |

सर्वशास्त्रप्रवक्तारं भार्गवं प्रणमाम्यहम् || ||

 

नीलांजनसमाभासं रविपुत्रं यमाग्रजम् |

छायामार्तण्डसंभूतं तं नमामि शनैश्चरम् || ||

 

अर्धकायं महावीर्यं चन्द्रादित्यविमर्दनम् |

सिंहिकागर्भसंभूतं तं राहुं प्रणमाम्यहम् || ||

 

पलाशपुष्पसंकाशं तारकाग्रहमस्तकम् |

रौद्रं रौद्रात्मकं घोरं तं केतुं प्रणमाम्यहम् || ||

 

इति व्यासमुखोद्गीतं यः पठेत्सुसमाहितः |

दिवा वा यदि वा रात्रौ विघ्नशान्तिर्भविष्यति ||

 

नरनारीनृपाणां भवेद्दुःस्वप्ननाशनम् |

ऐश्वर्यमतुलं तेषामारोग्यं पुष्टिवर्धनम् ||

 

गृहनक्षत्रजाः पीडास्तस्कराग्निसमुद्भवाः |

ताः सर्वाः प्रशमं यान्ति व्यासो ब्रूते संशयः ||

 

इति श्रीव्यासविरचितं नवग्रहस्तोत्रं संपूर्णम् ||

 

 

 

Navagraha Stotram

 

namaḥ sūryaya candraya mangalaya budhayaca

guru śukra śani bruhas ca rāhave ketave namaḥ

 

Salutations to the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu.

 

japākusumasaṃkāśaṃ kāśyapeyaṃ mahadyutim |

tamo ̕riṃ sarvapāpaghnaṃ praṇato ̕smi divākaram || 1 ||

 

Salutations to the Sun, the day-maker, destroyer of all sins, the enemy of darkness, of great brilliance, the descendent of Kashyapa, the one who shines like the japa flower.

 

 

dadhiśaṅkhatuṣārābhaṃ kṣīrodārṇavasaṃbhavam |

namāmi śaśinaṃ somaṃ śambhormukuṭabhūṣaṇam || 2 ||

 

Salutations to the Moon who shines coolly like curds or a white shell, who arose from the ocean of milk, who has a hare on him, Soma, who is the ornament of Shiva's hair.

 

 

dharaṇīgarbhasaṃbhūtaṃ vidyutkāntisamaprabham |

kumāraṃ śaktihastaṃ ca maṅgalaṃ praṇamāmyaham || 3 ||

 

Salutations to Mars, born of Earth, who shines with the same brilliance as lightning, the young man who carries a spear.

  

 

priyaṅgukalikāśyāmaṃ rūpeṇāpratimaṃ budham |

saumyaṃ saumyaguṇopetaṃ taṃ budhaṃ praṇamāmyaham || 4 ||

 

Salutations to Mercury, dark like the bud of millet, of unequalled beauty, gentle and agreeable.

  

 

devānāṃ ca ṛṣīṇāṃ ca guruṃ kāñcanasaṃnibham |

buddhibhūtaṃ trilokeśaṃ taṃ namāmi bṛhaspatim || 5 ||

 

Salutations to Jupiter, the teacher of gods and rishis, intellect incarnate, lord of the three worlds.

  

 

himakundamṛṇālābhaṃ daityānāṃ paramaṃ gurum |

sarvaśāstrapravaktāraṃ bhārgavaṃ praṇamāmyaham || 6 ||

 

Salutations to Venus, the preceptor of demons, promulgator of all learning, he who shines like the fiber of snow-white jasmine.

  

 

nīlāṃjanasamābhāsaṃ raviputraṃ yamāgrajam |

chāyāmārtaṇḍasaṃbhūtaṃ taṃ namāmi śanaiścaram || 7 ||

 

Salutations to Saturn, the slow moving, born of Shade and Sun, the elder brother of Yama, the offspring of Sun, he who has the appearance of black collyrium.

 

 

ardhakāyaṃ mahāvīryaṃ candrādityavimardanam |

siṃhikāgarbhasaṃbhūtaṃ taṃ rāhuṃ praṇamāmyaham || 8 ||

 

Salutations to Rahu, having half a body, of great bravery, the eclipser of the Moon and the Sun, born of Simhika.

  

 

palāśapuṣpasaṃkāśaṃ tārakāgrahamastakam |

raudraṃ raudrātmakaṃ ghoraṃ taṃ ketuṃ praṇamāmyaham || 9 ||

 

Salutations to Ketu, who has the appearance of Palasha flower (flaming), the head of stars and planets, fierce and terrifying.

  

 

iti vyāsamukhodgītaṃ yaḥ paṭhetsusamāhitaḥ |

divā vā yadi vā rātrau vighnaśāntirbhaviṣyati || 10 ||

 

Those who read the song sung by Vyasa, will be joyous, sovereign and powerful, and will succeed in appeasing obstacles, occurring by day or by night.

 

 

naranārīnṛpāṇāṃ ca bhavedduḥsvapnanāśanam |

aiśvaryamatulaṃ teṣāmārogyaṃ puṣṭivardhanam ||

 

Bad dreams of men, women and kings alike will be destroyed and they will be endowed with unparalleled riches, good health and enhancing nourishment.

 

 

gṛhanakṣatrajāḥ pīḍāstaskarāgnisamudbhavāḥ |

tāḥ sarvāḥ praśamaṃ yānti vyāso brūte na saṃśayaḥ ||

 

All the pain, devastation caused by fire, planets and stars will be of the past, so spoke Vyasa, emphatically.

 

 

iti śrīvyāsaviracitaṃ navagrahastotraṃ saṃpūrṇam ||

 

Thus ends the song of praise of the nine planets composed by Vyasa.
