अयि गिरिनन्दिनि नन्दितमेदिनि विश्वविनोदिनि नन्दिनुते
गिरिवरविन्ध्यशिरोऽधिनिवासिनि विष्णुविलासिनि जिष्णुनुते ।
भगवति हे शितिकण्ठकुटुम्बिनि भूरिकुटुम्बिनि भूरिकृते

kṛtacaturaṅga balakṣitiraṅga ghaṭadbahuraṅga raṭadbaṭuke

(Salutations to the Divine Mother) Whose bracelet dances on his shining coat of arms following the movements of his bow during every moment of the battle,
whose golden arrows turn reddish (with blood) when they attack stupid enemies and kill them despite their screams and loud cries (flaunting vain pride),
which transforms by folding the four hosts (Chaturanga) of enemies that surround it from all sides during the battle, made up of many leaders of various colors who stupidly scream and shout (showing off their vain pride) in a game of decreasing strength.

Whose ornament and hair braids combine the beauty and sweetness of blue water full of lilies with swarms of bees and Bakula flowers infested with a swarm of bees.

करमुरलीरव वीजितकूजित लज्जितकोकिल मञ्जुमते

निजगणभूत महाशबरीगण सद्गुणसम्भृत केलितले

karamuralīrava vījitakūjita lajjitakokila mañjumate
militapulinda manoharaguñjita rañjitaśaila nikuñjagate |

(Salutations to the Divine Mother) Whose life is submerged in colorful silk dresses, the luster of which eclipses the brightness of the moon.
Whose nails pulsate like the brilliance of a gem in a diadem and spread His brightness like a moon, greeted with reverence by Gods and Demons.
Who wins over the mighty heads that are swollen with pride like golden mountains, with the excellence (of power and compassion) that abounds in His bosom similar to a jug.

vijitasahasrakaraika sahasrakaraika sahasrakaraikanute
kṛtasuratāraka saṅgaratāraka saṅgaratāraka sūnusute |
surathasamādhi samānasamādhi samādhisamādhi sujātarate |
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute ||17||
(Salutations to the Divine Mother) Who conquers thousands of enemies who fight against Her thousands of hands thus generating thousands of hands (of devotees) who praise Her.
Who created the savior of the Devas (His son Kartikeya) for the fight with the Demon Tarkasura, and then urged His son for the great battle.
Which is satisfied with both: the devotional contemplation similar to that of King Suratha (of the Devi Mahatmyam) for worldly gains, and the excellent devotional contemplation of Samadhi for spiritual knowledge.

padakamalaṃ karuṇānilaye varivasyati yo'nudinaṃ suśive
ayi kamale kamalānilaye kamalānilayaḥ sa kathaṃ na bhavet |
tava padameva parampadamityanuśīlayato mama kiṃ na śive

(Salutations to the Divine Mother) Whoever serves Your propitiatory lotus feet every day, who are the abode of compassion,
(serves) that lotus, which is a abode of Kamala (Goddess Mahalakshmi), will not himself become a abode of Kamala (prosperity) ?
Your feet in fact are the supreme feet (supreme refuge); How can I not practice devotion to them, Oh auspicious Mother?

कनकलसत्कलसिन्धुजलैरनुषिञ्चति तेगुणरङ्गभुवम्

तव चरणं शरणं करवाणि नतामरवाणि निवासि शिवम्
जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते ॥१९॥
kanakalasatkalasindhujalairanuṣiñcati teguṇaraṅgabhuvam
bhajati sa kiṃ na śacīkucakumbhataṭīparirambhasukhānubhavam |
tava caraṇaṃ śaraṇaṃ karavāṇi natāmaravāṇi nivāsi śivam
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute ||19||
(Salutations to the Divine Mother) When a devotee washes the place where your attributes are displayed (places of worship) with river water that is bright as gold and flows smoothly.
Will he not feel the joy of Your all-encompassing Grace contained in Your jug-like (overflowing) breast?
I take refuge on Your feet, Oh Vani (Devi Mahasarasvati) and bow down before You, Oh eternal Vani where all auspices reside.

tava vimalendukulaṃ vadanendumalaṃ sakalaṃ nanu kūlayate
kimu puruhūtapurīndu mukhī sumukhībhirasau vimukhīkriyate |
mama tu mataṃ śivanāmadhane bhavatī kṛpayā kimuta kriyate
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute ||20||
(Salutations to the Divine Mother) Your moon-like face is home to an immaculate and stainless purity that certainly overcomes all impurities.
Otherwise, why has my mind drifted away from the moon face of beautiful ladies like those in Indra's castle?

अयि मयि दीन दयालुतया कृपयैव त्वया भवितव्यमुमे
अयि जगतो जननी कृपयासि यथासि तथानुमितासिरते ।
यदुचितमत्र भवत्युररीकुरुतादुरुतापमपाकुरुते
जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते ॥२१॥
ayi mayi dīna dayālutayā kṛpayaiva tvayā bhavitavyamume
ayi jagato jananī kṛpayāsi yathāsi tathānumitāsirate |
yaducitamatra bhavatyurarīkurutādurutāpamapākurute
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute ||21||
(Salutations to the Divine Mother) Grant me Your grace, Oh Mother Uma, who are compassionate with the miserable.
Oh mother of the universe; just as your grace is sprinkled (on devotees), so are your arrows scattered (on enemies).
Please do whatever is appropriate at this time, Oh venerable Mother, to remove my pains and afflictions as they have become difficult for me to bear.
