Śrī Guru Stotram

 

श्री गुरु स्तोत्रम्

 

अखण्डमण्डलाकारं व्याप्तं येन चराचरम् ।

तत्पदं दर्शितं येन तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥१॥

 

अज्ञानतिमिरान्धस्य ज्ञानाञ्जनशालाकया ।

चक्षुरुन्मीलितं येन तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥२॥

 

गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णु गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः ।

गुरुः साक्षात् परब्रह्म तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥३॥

 

स्थावरं जङ्गमं व्याप्तं यत् किञ्चित् चराचरम् ।

तत्पदं दर्शितं येन तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥४॥

 

चिन्मयं व्याप्तं सर्वं त्रैलोक्यं सचराचरम् ।

तत्पदं दर्शितं येन तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥५॥

 

सर्वश्रुति शिरोरत्न विराजितपदाम्बुजः ।

वेदान्ताम्बुज सूर्यो यः तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥६॥

 

चैतन्यः शाश्वतः शान्तो व्योमातीतोनिरञ्जनः ।

बिन्दूनादकलातीतः तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥७॥

 

ज्ञानशक्तिसमारूढः तत्त्वमालाविभूषितः ।

भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदाता च तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥८॥

 

अनेकजन्मसम्प्राप्तकर्मबन्धविदाहिने ।

आत्मज्ञानाप्रदानेन तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥९॥

 

शोषणं भवसिन्धोश्च ज्ञापणं सारसम्पदः ।

गुरोः पादोदकं सम्यक् तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥१०॥

 

न गुरोरधिकं तत्त्वं न गुरोरधिकं तपः ।

तत्त्वज्ञानात् परं नास्ति तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥११॥

 

मन्नाथः श्री जगन्नाथ मद्गुरुः श्रीजगद्गुरुः ।

मदात्मा सर्वभूतात्मा तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥१२॥

 

गुरुरादिरनादिश्च गुरुः परमदैवतम् ।

गुरोः परतरं नास्ति तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः ॥१३॥

 

त्वमेव माता च पिता त्वमेव

त्वमेव बन्धुश्च सखा त्वमेव

त्वमेव विद्या द्रविणम् त्वमेव

त्वमेव सर्वम् मम देव देवः ॥१४॥

 

 

śrī guru stotram

 

 

akhaṇḍamaṇḍalākāraṃ vyāptaṃ yena carācaram |

tatpadaṃ darśitaṃ yena tasmai śrī gurave namaḥ ||1||

 

My salutations to that glorious Guru who has shown me the Reality of the unbroken, infinite, and pervasive mandala of moveable and immovable beings.

 

 

ajñānatimirāndhasya jñānāñjanaśālākayā |

cakṣurunmīlitaṃ yena tasmai śrī gurave namaḥ ||2||

 

My salutations to that glorious Guru, who, when I was blinded by ignorance, applied the divine collyrium of self-knowledge and opened my eyes.

 

 

gururbrahmā gururviṣṇu gururdevo maheśvaraḥ |

guruḥ sākṣāt parabrahma tasmai śrī gurave namaḥ ||3||

 

Guru is Brahm. Guru is Visṇụ. Guru is the Supreme Lord Śiva (the Creator, Sustainer and Destroyer). The Guru is verily the Para-Brahman (Absolute Brahman). Salutations to that glorious Guru.

 

 

sthāvaraṃ jaṅgamaṃ vyāptaṃ yat kiñcit carācaram |

tatpadaṃ darśitaṃ yena tasmai śrī gurave namaḥ ||4||

 

My salutations to that glorious Guru who has revealed to me the state that pervades everything whether movable or immovable, animate or inanimate.

 

 

cinmayaṃ vyāptaṃ sarvaṃ trailokyaṃ sacarācaram |

tatpadaṃ darśitaṃ yena tasmai śrī gurave namaḥ ||5||

 

My salutations to that glorious Guru who has shown me the Supreme Consciousness that pervades all three worlds and everything movable and immovable.

 

 

sarvaśruti śiroratna virājitapadāmbujaḥ |

vedāntāmbuja sūryo yaḥ tasmai śrī gurave namaḥ ||6||

 

My salutations to that glorious Guru, who is like the sun who makes the lotus of Vedanta blossom, and whose lotus feet are adorned with the best jewels of Vedas.

 

 

caitanyaḥ śāśvataḥ śānto vyomātītonirañjanaḥ |

bindūnādakalātītaḥ tasmai śrī gurave namaḥ ||7||

 

My salutations to that glorious Guru who is verily the Eternal Consciousness, the very essence of Peace, untouched by ignorance, transcending the space, the primordial sound, and all parts (Bindu, Nada and Kala).

 

 

jñānaśaktisamārūḍhaḥ tattvamālāvibhūṣitaḥ |

bhuktimuktipradātā ca tasmai śrī gurave namaḥ ||8||

 

My salutations to that glorious Guru, established in wisdom and power, adorned with a garland of all the elements, granting both enjoyment of the world and spiritual liberation.

 

 

anekajanmasamprāptakarmabandhavidāhine |

ātmajñānāpradānena tasmai śrī gurave namaḥ ||9||

 

My salutations to that glorious Guru who gives Self-knowledge and burns up the accumulated karma over many births.

 

 

śoṣaṇaṃ bhavasindhośca jñāpaṇaṃ sārasampadaḥ |

guroḥ pādodakaṃ samyak tasmai śrī gurave namaḥ ||10||

 

Sipping the water used to wash the Guru's feet, the endless ocean of seeking is dried up, and we realize true wealth. My salutations to that glorious Guru.

 

 

na guroradhikaṃ tattvaṃ na guroradhikaṃ tapaḥ |

tattvajñānāt paraṃ nāsti tasmai śrī gurave namaḥ ||11||

 

There is no Reality higher than Guru. There is no austerity higher than Guru. There is no

wisdom higher than that transmitted by Guru. My salutations to that glorious Guru.

 

 

mannāthaḥ śrī jagannātha madguruḥ śrījagadguruḥ |

madātmā sarvabhūtātmā tasmai śrī gurave namaḥ ||12||

 

My Lord is the Lord of Universe. My Guru is the Guru of Universe. And my Self is the Self of all beings. My salutations to that glorious Guru.

 

 

gururādiranādiśca guruḥ paramadaivatam |

guroḥ parataraṃ nāsti tasmai śrī gurave namaḥ ||13||

 

Guru is the beginning of the universe, yet he himself is without beginning. Guru is the highest deity. There is none higher than Guru. My salutations to that glorious Guru.

 

 

tvameva mātā ca pitā tvameva

tvameva bandhuśca sakhā tvameva

tvameva vidyā draviṇam tvameva

tvameva sarvam mama deva devaḥ ||14||

 

You are my mother and you are my father.

You are my relative and you are my friend.

You are my knowledge and you are my wealth.

You are my all, my God of Gods.
